Shuri will then assume the mantle and become Wakanda’s new protector on a permanent basis. Details beyond that remain unclear, but the film itself will no doubt look to pay respect to an actor that inspired a generation and convinced them that they could be heroes, and it would seem that the studio feels that making a movie capable of honoring the legacy of what Chadwick Boseman brought to the role is the most poignant tribute that they can give him.
The movie can easily flesh out Shuri’s character more and have he learn more physical demanding moves, combined with her science background. I am sure her brother’s death will be a catalyst to train, be more physical and learn. Who’s to say they won’t write more back story when they talk about how he died off screen and what she wound up doing because of it. There are endless possibilities and I think her character is a great choice to take up the suit with a few changes I am sure
So she just becomes Black Panther because the need somebody else? Nah, she should have to train and earn it… recast is better. Everybody’s letting their emotions dictate a franchise just because they liked Boseman and are sad, but there’s still a lot of story left to tell and not recasting is a bad way to honor the history.
